Four People Shot at Howe Community Park – Unsanctioned Gathering Ends in Shooting





On Saturday evening, an unauthorized gathering of multiple hundreds of attendees at Howe Community Park in the Arden-Arcade section of Sacramento turned violent when 20 to 25 rounds were discharged as Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputies were in the process of clearing the crowd.

What Happened

Shortly after 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department was notified reporting subjects possibly armed with concealed weapons at the Arden-Arcade park. A follow-up call reported a reported fight and individuals running from the park.

An airship was deployed and swept the area but could not find any active disturbance.

However, a large crowd had gathered at the park for what authorities described as an unauthorized event. Law enforcement personnel positioned themselves around the park, activated emergency lights, and spent approximately 15 minutes announcing over loudspeakers for people to leave over loudspeakers.

As officers worked to clear the park, upwards of 20 gunshots were discharged — sending hundreds of people running in all directions at once.

Shooting Victims

Four shooting victims — three men and one woman, read more ranging in age through their 20s — were brought to area medical facilities. Two sustained immediate injuries, one victim had moderate injuries, and one with minor injuries. All four were said to be in stable condition. The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department responded and assisted with triage at the incident scene.

The Crime Scene

The shooting took place along the Cottage Way corridor side of the park alongside the Home Depot store at the 2200 block of Howe Avenue in Sacramento. The nearby Home Depot was locked down for a period of time. What We Know About Suspects

Through scanner communications, it was confirmed that a suspect vehicle — a Kia automobile — was stopped in Solano County with four occupants detained. Sacramento County Sheriff's Office units were sent click here to transport the suspects back and bring them back to Sacramento for questioning. Footage confirmed that two individuals fired weapons.
